Jan 9th Cabo Fishing Report:
Our Friend Katy, her son Tyler and 2 of thier friends went out with Casey and Justo this week. It was flat calm, and the weather was in the 80's. They went up the Pacific side for an action packed day of fishing. Everyone on board reeled in fish and they left them biting with their fish count at 13 Dorado and a nice Wahoo. The Wahoo went straight down to Soloman's that night for dinner. As Micky would say, Yumzola. The fishing remains good and each day is different with Marlin, Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo all out there and biting. Mary & I will be down next month for V-day, and I will have an updated Cabo Fishing Report from our trip.
I had to share this e-mail sent to me from Alan Kaufman, who fished with us for the first time last Month:
Morgan,
Happy New Year!! Sorry this has taken so long. We had the absolute greatest time fishing with Casey and Justo last month. It was not only the 6 marlin or 18 dorado but the quality of these two guys and the comfort of the boat was incredible. There has not been a day gone by that I haven't raved about the trip. I have fished all over the world with many many operations and have never come close to one such as yours. These guys truly went out of their way to make me have one of the greatest fishing experiences in my life. Please pass on my thoughts to the guys, wish them a happy and healthy new year for me, and know I will be back soon.
Thanks again,
Alan Kaufman
Jan 2nd Cabo Fishing Report:
Casey has been out a few times lately, due to the great Dorado bite up the Pacific side, just a few miles off shore. The ocean has been flat calm, and the weather has remained in the 80's. Perfect fishing conditions! The cruise ships are stacking up in the Cape, and the town is busy again. I guess global warming has not hit too hard back East, as gringo's are pouring into Cabo from the snowed in area's.
I looked at air fares today to book my next trip down, and I saw some of the lowest prices I have ever seen to go to Cabo. Try to come home on Monday, or another day during the week, the prices are much better than coming home over the weekend. Thats it for now, hope to see you in Cabo.

Dec 7th Cabo Fishing Report:
Alan Kaufman went out with Casey and Justo today. They had some nice Dorado in the boat and a Marlin release, when I talked to them, early in the day. The fishing has been good, some days with a little more wind than we like, but that's fishing. The weather has been in the 80's. Time to come down and get some sunshine and good Cabo fishing.
Nov 18th Cabo Fishing Report:
Some more friends from California, Bob, Mark, and Tim fished on Picudo today. They ended up about 35 miles up the Pacific side, and it was a slower than normal fishing day for us. Thats why they call it fishing, not catching. Anyway, they picked up 4 Dorado to 20lbs, and at the end of the day hooked a nice Marlin to finish them off. Bob told me they also will not be using anymore 28' sportfishers, after being spoiled on our nice 37' Bertram. Hooked another one. I told Bob that Striper was a good eating fish, and after a BBQ Marlin dinner at Solomans, he agrees.
Nov 11th Cabo Fishing Report:
Our friend Gordon and his group went into the Sea of Cortez and out to the Gordo Banks. They had lots of action on Tuna and since they were using light tackle, they broke off alot of fish. There were some big Tuna jumping around, but nobody could seem to get the big fat ones to bite. They ended up with 12 Tuna to 25lbs, and a nice Dorado. Fun was had by all, and they told me they are through with the little charter boats, we ruined them on Picudo. They will be back for more Cabo Fishing soon.
Nov 7th Cabo Fishing Report:
My Tuna Tournament report got erased, (It's those damn administrators) We did not win any $, but had a great time, we can't wait until next year to do the Tournament again.
November 2nd thru 9th Mary and I will be down for the Tuna Tournament, Cabo fishing report to follow.

October 2nd Cabo Fishing Report:
Our friend Dave Lamb and his family fished on Picudo today. They went up the Pacific side for a wide open day of Dorado fishing. (See Photo Album) At final tally, 13 Dorado were boated, on a beautiful flat calm day. Dave, his wife, and son battled fish steadily all morning, and were back in the Marina early. Dave said they had a great time and will be back to Cabo soon for some more good Cabo fishing and fun.
September 21st Cabo Fishing Report;
Casey, Justo and I went out today for the best fishing we have ever had on Picudo. We started up the Pacific side in the dark, and threw in the lines at first light. Five minutes later we were battling a 30 lb Wahoo and had it in the boat before 7am. Next we picked up 4 nice Dorado up above Cristobal, just a few miles off the beach, and decided to try to find a Tuna school outside. An hour later we were all alone in a huge school of Porpoise, with birds diving for the large bait balls all around us. After multiple double, triple and quad hook ups, we left them biting with 19 Tuna in the bag. We started cruising back towards Cabo, but we kept getting interrupted by more Tuna hookups. The next time a rod went off it just kept going and almost spooled a Penn 50 reel. After a 45 minute battle we boated a huge 60 lb Wahoo, our 2nd of the day. We were laughing and celebrating when a pesky Sailfish hammered a lure, and it was on again. After another 30 minute fight, we released the Sail, and I went in for a well deserved nap under the A/C unit. Thankfully we got into the harbor without any more interruptions, because my reeling hand was numb and cramping up. Cocktails and a killer Wahoo dinner at Solomans finished me off, it doesn't get any better than that. I am trying to sneak back down one more time before the Tuna Tournament, because the fishing is red hot.

August Picudo Cabo Fishing Report:
With Summer conditions upon us it sure is nice to have the big gear out. Sea temp is upper 80's, water is cobalt blue and you just don't know whats going to show up in the pattern to slam you.
Sea of Cortez side has been a little slow although fishing out of San Jose has provided a few Blues. Gordo Banks are starting to produce, and bait is thick. We all know big mama is lurking.
Fishing charters are still slow, but picking up. Over 100 boats per day are getting out, so we are starting to recover here in Cabo.
Best fishing is from Cabo Falso to Ballena point in the Pacific. Scattered Dorado, Sailfish, and Stripers are biting with some good numbers. Trolling and soaking bait seem to be the trick.
Outside Tuna are still being found from the Golden Gate to outside Jaime Bank. Good fishing off Falso at 180 degrees, with the distance fluctuating between 18 and 25 miles, and fish size from footballs to around 50 lbs.
The Blues are starting to show up. Roberto on the Blue Marlin bagged a 451 lb off the cape rocks and the hookups are scattered from the 95 spot up to the Golden Gate.
Picudo has held her own this month with good numbers. Our trips have targeted Tuna and Dorado with good results. I won't tell you about the fatty we dumped because I am still pissed off about it.
Were looking forward to September, one of my favorite months, and hopefully we won't get bad weather. September is normally our worst hurricane month and keeps us from getting out as much as we would like to.
Fishing is picking up and we are heading full speed into the best months of the year. Tournaments are just around the corner. Pack those bags and get down here, we'll be waiting!

August 4th Cabo Fishing Report:
Casey took out a half day group today for some nice Tuna to 20lbs, and a couple Dorado. They went straight out from the cape rocks about 10 miles, where they found some small schools of porpoise with Tuna underneath. The fishing remains good on the Pacific side, as long as the wind doesn't kick up too hard. We will be down for a week of fishing in September, fishing report to follow.

July 20th Cabo Fishing Report:
Captain Casey, with some great help from our back up Captain Ricky, took Andy D, his son Cory, and other family members fishing on Picudo today. They ended up with 7 nice Yellowfin Tuna to 30lbs, a Striped Marlin, and Cory's first Sailfish. Another great day of fishing in Cabo. They will be back after them on Wednesday, report to follow.
June 30th Cabo Fishing Report:
Everyone has been either too busy or too broke to go fishing for the last few months. We will get back started in July with Andy Dolich from the SF 49ers and his family, for a few days of Cabo fishing. The swine flu scare (not one case in all of Baja) had no cruise ships and hardly any tourists for months in Cabo. The cruise ships are finally back, so we should have some fishing reports soon. Captain Casey says the fishing remains good in between the storms that go through this time of year. Dorado has been the number one catch, with Tuna and Marlin still out there and biting. Most of the fishing is up in the Sea of Cortez, and Cabo is just happy to have tourists finally coming back down to take advantage of the good fishing. See you soon in Cabo!
March 10th Cabo Fishing Report:
Our Friends, Greg and Penny went up to the Golden Gate Seamount today to check the fishing action. The bite was still on, with huge balls of bait and Marlin everywhere. Penny single handedly reeled in her first Marlin after an epic 45 minute battle, with the fish jumping the whole time. Nice going Penny! The fishing remains good in Cabo and the weather is nice and hot. A good time to go get some fish and sun.
Feb 21st Cabo Fishing Report:
Andy D . and the crew went out again today, and they went the 30 + miles up the Pacific side and found the Dorado schools reported there. The bite was WFO. Andy e-mailed me that the size of the fish were bigger today, and he caught them up to 30 lbs, some of them on his light tackle spinning gear, quote: "Crazy Fight". The 3 amigos, Andy, Casey , and Ricky, had numerous triple hook ups, and they had a great time. This was Andy's birthday trip with his wife, and he told me fishing with Picudo was one of his best birthday presents. Nice going Andy, and he will be back on Picudo on his next trip to Cabo in July.
Feb 19th Cabo Fishing Report:
Andy Dolich, from the San Francisco 49ers fished with us today. First we tried for some Sierra on light tackle, but the bite was slow and we only hooked one. We decided to go out to the Golden Gate Seamount, where Andy reeled in 9 Dorado and one Striped Marlin. Awesome day of Cabo fishing for Andy, he will be back out Saturday, fishing report to follow.
Feb 14th Cabo Fishing Report:
Great to be back in Cabo, 81 degrees and no worries. Perfect.
We fished light tackle with live bait today for a great day of fishing in Cabo. We chumed live sardina's to bring up schools of Dorado and Tuna to the boat, and it was a blast. When a school comes up the action is fast and furious, and we broke off and came unbuttoned on alot of bites, but still ended up with 4 Dorado and 2 Tuna. Mary reeled in most of the fish and had a good workout. The bite is just 2 miles off the beach, up past San Jose Del Cabo in the Sea of Cortez. Off to Edith's for a nice V-day dinner.
Jan 12th Cabo Fishing Report:
I talked to Captain Casey today, and the fishing at the Golden Gate Seamount continues to be red hot. Marlin, Tuna and Dorado abound, and the fishing is still in the middle of large schools of bait, with Whales and birds everywhere. Time to head South.
Dec 8th Cabo Fishing Report:
Friends from Danville California, Ron & Kirk, went fishing on Picudo at the Golden Gate Seamount for 3 Striped Marlin. The fishing remains hot in Cabo, and with all the bait and sealife, it is like the fishing was 20 years ago. A great time to get down to Cabo and get a fishing trip of a lifetime.
Dec 2nd Cabo Fishing Report:
Joe Wilson and around 50 family members came down to Cabo for their family re-union. Joe and 5 family members took off this morning on Picudo to fish the Pacific side of Cabo at the Golden Gate Seamount. They hooked an amazing 15 Striped Marlin casting live baits. Great Cabo Fishing! They broke off quite a few due to us using 30# test line and 80# leader with light tackle rods, but it sure makes it fun for the angler, and we release all Marlin anyway. Joe single handedly baited and hooked his first Marlin and got it to the boat for a release. Great job fishing Joe! They trolled back to the harbor for 3 Dorado for a nice dinner. The fishing in Cabo remains outstanding. Captain Casey told me this was a great group of fishermen, and he had a blast fishing with them today. We hope to see Joe and his family back on Picudo in the future.
Nov 22nd Cabo Fishing Report:
Bart Price and his Cabo fishing group decided to go fishing for some Tuna today. Captain Casey ran straight out into the Pacific to look for schools of porpoise that will sometimes hold Tuna under the school. Throughout their fishing day they found 11 different schools, 3 of them with signs of Tuna, and in one of the 3 they managed 3 Tuna to #20 pounds. The water outside Cabo was flat and calm as a lake all day. A great way to end 3 really exciting days of fishing Cabo for Bart's group. They were all great guys and we hope they will come and fish Cabo with Picudo and crew again.
Bart, thanks for the hats, shirts, and other racing stuff you left for us, we appreciate it!

Nov 21st Cabo Fishing Report:
Bart and the guys were at it again today. Total fish count was 16 Marlin and 12 Dorado for the 3 boats. Great Cabo fishing! Picudo won the mini fishing tournament with 2 Marlin and 10 Dorado.
Nov 20th Cabo Fishing Report:
Bart Price, Darrell and Jeff fished on Picudo at the Golden Gate up the Pacific coast of Cabo San Lucas today for 4 Marlin and 2 Tuna. There were 2 other boats with 3 anglers each in their group and it looks like a total fish count of 14 Marlin with some Tuna and Dorado mixed in. The 3 boats have been having mini daily fishing tournaments, and the guys sound like they are having a blast. The Cabo Marlin Fishing is red hot right now.
Bart, I hope my fish count is right, the Captains cell phone went dead before I could confirm Cabo fishing report.
Nov 19th Cabo Fishing Report:
Our Friends, Dennis and Cindy Kiely from Manteca Ca., went Cabo Fishing yesterday on Picudo and caught 2 marlin. Cindy's was a monster Striper that kept her busy for a long time before being released. Another good day of Cabo San Lucas fishing.
November 10th Cabo Fishing Report:
Picudo entered the Cabo San Lucas & Western Outdoor News Tuna Fishing Tournament on Nov 6th and 7th. We ended up our with 8 Tuna to 35 lbs, and some Dorado mixed in. Not big enough for the money, but we had a great time and we will be back next year. We have been fishing this tournament in Cabo for the last 5 years, and it is a blast.
On Sunday Nov 9th, we had our buddies from Livermore California, the Henegan’s and Costello’s, fishing at the Golden Gate,up the Pacific coast of Cabo San Lucas, where they hooked 10 Striped Marlin. The fishing is red hot right now and schools of bait have you fishing between pods of whales, diving birds and hungry Marlin all over the place. It is off the hook.
Monday Nov 10th: Picudo Had Larry Sr. and Larry Jr, also from Livermore, fishing the Pacific side of Cabo. They caught and released 3 Striped Marlin, with a lot more bites coming in between with all the marine life trying to get to the numerous bait balls throughout the area. The Cabo fishing remains great.
October 28th Report:
Cabo Fishing Report from Captain Casey:
Fall conditions have moved into the Cabo San Lucas area with daytime temps around 90+ and nights are cooling slowly. Cabo fishing has been fair to good, with a great showing of striped marlin and the fleet is averaging 3-4 marlin a boat, with a few scattered dorado and sailfish mixed in. The action is at the golden gate on the Pacific side of Cabo. Blue marlin fishing is fair, but the size is down as reflected in the Bisbee Cabo Fishing Tournament, where although quite a few blues were released, only 2 fish made the scales, with a 457 lb, and a 311 lb, to take all the fishing tournament money. Most of the blues were caught at Cabo falso, in the Finestera area above Cabo San Lucas. Sea temps are good, ranging from mid to upper 80’s.
Picudo has been doing well Fishing Cabo for dorado, sailfish, and marlin. A notable catch was Nico and Mike Carter, trading off to boat and release a 350 lb blue marlin. A great fishing trip for a couple of youngsters catching their first blue. We are looking forward to fishing November, which is our favorite month to go fishing in Cabo, where this transition month allows for almost anything to come into the trolling pattern and strike.
Picudo is entered in the Cabo San Lucas & Western Outdoors News Tuna Fishing Tournament on Nov 6th and 7th, and we will have a Cabo fishing report to let you know how we do.
Tip up and tight lines,
Captain Casey Carter,
Picudo.1
